My parents have been teaching me some of the most important things in life over the past few weeks as they try to establish my moral compass. We’ve been talking a lot and I’ve learned several important principles.
- Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength
- Love your neighbor as yourself
- Love the Fighting Illini… or else!
They’ve even used several songs to help me grasp that last principle. My dad wrote a little musical number a while back called Illinois Boy and he’s been trying to teach it to me lately. In addition, my friends Josh & Bethany recently taught me this great song. It’s kind of catchy. In fact I haven’t been able to get it out of my head ever since. It’s not so bad though because it seems to make me smile every time I hear it or think about it. I try to sing along but I can’t quite seem to harmonize yet. I guess I’ll have to keep practicing.
